Rainer Wess founded his own winery after
experience of national as well as international
activities in the wine industry:

Practical experience at Ch. l'Angelus,
   Ch. Cheval- Blanc and Ch. de Francs

Sales experience with Gottardi -
   St. Urban-Cellars winery

Sales and product manager Klosterkeller 
   Siegendorf and Malteser Ritterorden

Robert Mondavi Winery: Sales manager
   South Germany, Switzerland and Austria

Freelance vintner Wachau: As director with
    responsibility for oenology and production

In the first production year 2003 the acquired
knowledge of the wine districts and people
responsible, of course was of the greatest importance.

The best grapes from fine districts of the Wachau
could be bought additionaly, and the Steiner
Pfaffenberg was available. This was possible because
very many of the Loibenberg vintners own vineyards
not only at the Loibenberg but also at the Pfaffenberg.

From production year 2004 it became possible to
lease about 2 hectares of best terraced vineyard in
the districts of Jochinger Kollmitz, Vorderseiber and Viesslinger Ried Bruck. For processing, the biggest
(and best) grape supplier in the winery Wess was a
cquired, so that the best grapes of consistently high
quality could be processed.
